I know you all have your favorite handguns, 1911s, Glocks, Rugers, and tried and true wheel guns, and we all get a bit set in what we like. So in an effort to keep you on your toes, this month's review of the new EXTAR AR15 pistol should give you a different class of pistol to take to the dance!
When it comes to hot, the modern AR15 platform is as popular as taking a model centerfold on a high school prom date! EXTAR has created a 5.56 Nato caliber, AR pistol that does away with the buffer tube and makes for a compact, polymer framed pistol with forward grip and one cool cat demeanor.
Pistols that fire rifle rounds are usually pretty unruly and kick like a horse but not this one, while it's one serious firearm on the business end, the EXTAR was as well behaved and docile as my little pony on the firing end!
The threaded compensator actually pushes the barrel down when you fire it, so there is no muzzle rise at all. The blade sites are clean and crisp. I had no problem firing one handed. I found it easy to shoot. With so little recoil it was surprisingly accurate out to 50 yards.
It utilizes standard AR magazines. Everything on this rifle is accessible, from mag release to safety and I loved the side charging handle. The only displeasure I had was the optic we tested with, it left very little room under the picatinny rail for my fingers when pulling back the charging handle.
Did I mention that this baby is LOUD and puts out a ball of FIRE that will get you enough Oohs and Aahs at the range to make you feel like you were just voted in as Royalty at your high school homecoming dance?! - Anna

Diana Jean is a study in contradiction, she is like a painting that is made up of smaller images, not until the sum of the parts comes together on the canvas can you see the larger image take shape and the image form. She is an artist, model, teacher, actress and life drawing instructor. She is every bit as comfortable with a paint brush in her hand or a revolver with a 6.5 inch barrel.
From the city's urban art scene, to the gun range, sushi house to classroom, blue jeans to posing in the buff, Diana Jean is a confident, smart, eclectic young woman, that knows the value of being her own person and very, very proficient with a firearm.
